In 2007, Irene Wing began and coordinated the San Jose WALK FOR A CURE. She continued in that role until she lost her courageous battle with GIST. Her friend Liz Chew, in an effort to honor Irene's memory, took over the event and has continued the effort to help erradicate this devastating disease.
All funds raised go to GCRF to assist in the fight against GIST. It is the goal of the GCRF to provide patient support, generate awareness for GIST and raise funds to support continued research to expand the development and access of important life-saving therapies. GIST is a cancer that has no cure and afflicts thousands of people annually. With your help, research has helped to prolong and improve the quality of life for those coping with this cancer. We can't do it without you! Thank you for your support!
Terri was diagnosed with a cancerous GIST (Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor) in January 2011. Terri danced her way to heaven on May 9th, 2011.
Please join us in an effort to raise money and awareness for this incurable disease.
During her courageous battle, Terri received over 25 units of blood. For this reason we encourage you to donate to Memorial Blood Centers. Memorial Blood Centers will be available at the Knights of Columbus Parking lot in a blood mobile. To sign up please visit MBC.ORG/searchdrives, enter #3957.
