Jimmie ‘Ruth’ Bryant, 72, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, in Portsmouth VA after over 20 years of battling GIST. She was an advocate for spiritual faith, self-empowerment, education, independence and overall happiness in life for her family. Ruth’s primary devotion in life was to her family.
Ruth grew up in Hattiesburg, MS with many hot summers, helping with family, attending school, and long days of work in the fields. She graduated High School in 1959. After high school she attended Jackson State University where she studied Business. Ruth always mentioned the calling for something different, brighter, and bigger, which prompted her move to New York in the early sixties.
In New York, her entrepreneurial spirit blossomed as she pursued various independent business opportunities throughout her life. Ruth moved to Texas in the late seventies and Virginia in the early nineties where she continued to work tirelessly to provide the best for her family. If you asked anyone what they remember most about Ruth, they will tell you its her chuckle or her laugh. We miss you mom!
