Dear Lady Lee
How do I honor you..to let others see
As a Red Hat Sister you were an inspiration to all of us
You enjoyed organizing and planning wonderful events
You got so excited and enthusiastic planning each and every trip
When the cancer came around the first time we felt so helpless
In the locker room at the Y, you always had a kind word or a smile
And you never complained when I did the silly little YMCA song
But as one of your red hat sisters said to me just the other day
When I saw you at the hospital for the very last time
You said you needed me to help youand I did whatever I could do
You looked so joyful and happyit didnt matter to you that my prayers were Catholic
Ohyes.someprofess their deep faiththis is true.
At one point I was so frustrated I thoughtit must be Lee.
We were at the computer and George typed Le and the ees jumped to the left side of the L
Now there are those who may not believe, but thats Okay

In memory of Lady Lee Kavaloski my Red Hat Scarlet Skinny Dipper Sister
CHEERFUL —- THOUGHTFUL AND CARING OF OTHERS—LOVING —–EXCELLENT WORKER—GREAT FRIEND—-COURAGEOUS —- LOYAL —– SMILING .
ALL OF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN ADJECTIVES TO DESCRIBE LEE, BUT THOSE ARE SOME OF MINE.
MY NAME IS TOM PHILLIPS. I HAVE KNOWN LEE FOR 26 YEARS, FIRST WHERE WE WORKED TOGETHER, AND LATER AS CLOSE FRIENDS WITH OUR FAMILIES.
MY FIRST MEMORIES OF LEE WERE SAD ONES, WHEN HER SON, KEN, WAS DIEING. I REMEMBER HER FATHER. WE WENT THROUGH DIVORCES AT ROUGHLY THE SAME TIME, AND THEN REMARRIAGES AT ROUGHLY THE SAME TIME. LEE WAS THE FIRST PERSON TO KNOW THAT I WAS GETTING REMARRIED EXCEPT MY BRIDE.
LEE TOOK CARE OF ME AT WORK AND DID HER BEST TO KEEP ME OUT OF TROUBLE. SHE KNEW ME AS WELL AS ANYONE NOT MARRIED TO ME COULD.
AFTER SHE MARRIED PETE, AND I MARRIED HARRIET, WE ALL BECAME CLOSE FRIENDS. WE HAD A RUNNING JOKE ABOUT OUR RELATIVE AGES. I WAS VERY DEFINITELY THE OLDER ONE. BUT LEE WAS THE FIRST TO HAVE A GRANDCHILD, SO I TEASED HER ABOUT BEING SO OLD AS TO HAVE GRANDCHILDREN. CAN YOU IMAGINE TEASING ABOUT AGE IN THIS DAY AND AGE? . AS THINGS TURNED OUT, I ENDED UP WITH MORE GRANDCHILDEN, AND EVERY YEAR SHE AND PETE WOULD GIVE ME A BIRTHDAY CARD IN SOME WAY LAMBASTING ME FOR BEING SO OLD. SOME OF THEM LITERALLY MADE ME LAUGH OUT LOUD. I THINK SHE LOOKED ALL YEAR FOR THE RIGHT CARD (WORST CARD).
THE BRIGHT SPOTS IN LEES LIFE HAVE BEEN PETE THANK GOD FOR YOU, PETE— AND HER GRANDCHILDREN. I CANT TELL YOU GUYS HOW MUCH SHE ENJOYED BEING WITH YOU, JUST TALKING WITH YOU, SEEING YOU GROW INTO BEAUTIFUL YOUNG PEOPLE, AND YOUR GETTING TO KNOW EACH OTHER.
I THINK LEE WOULD WANT THIS SERVICE TO BE A CELEBRATION OF HER LIFE, RATHER THAN A SAD SERVICE, SO LETS ALL REMEMBER HER AS SHE WAS —–CHEERFUL, THOUGHTFUL AND CARING OF OTHERS, LOVING, COURAGEOUS, LOYAL, AND SMILING.
